Here are my random notes on video conferencing services and how they work with Debian Buster.

Audio and video work on all of them in the respective browser. I have not tested desktop sharing.

Jitsi

Use with Firefox

apt install firefox

Needs WebRTC enabled (this is the default)

Webex

Use with Firefox

apt install firefox

Needs WebRTC enabled (this is the default)

Icedtea-Netx may be needed for WebEx training sessions

Does screen sharing/presenting does not work.

Currently (2021-10-31) joining the actual meeting fails, at least currently. Likely due to missing h264 encoders.

Gotomeeting

Use with Chromium

apt install chromium

Zoom

Use with Firefox, avoid the repeated attempts to make it download/install their application.

apt install firefox

Needs WebRTC enabled (this is the default)

Skype for Business (2013)

Does not work in Microsoft Edge for Linux, it needs a magic web-app-plugin that only works on Windows.

Does not work in Wine.

MS Teams

Simply launch with Chromium

apt install chromium

Teams will only offer you the "Join with browser" functionality if you are using Chromium. Actually joining the ($work) meeting fails, at least currently. Likely due to missing h264 encoders.
